QBASIC GORILLAS Play the game

Frequently asked questions

Short answers to the things people ask most. If yours is missing, write to us from the contact page.

Is QBasic Gorillas free?

Yes. The game is free to play in the browser, with no payment, no subscription and no account required.

Do I need an account to play?

No. You can play immediately. A nickname is only used if you want your wins to appear on the online leaderboard, and it is stored with nothing else.

How does multiplayer work?

Start a match and the game gives you a code. Send it to whoever you want to play against; they paste it on the title screen and join from their own device. The code carries the whole match — the city, the wind, whose turn it is and the score — so no account or lobby is needed.

Can two people play on one device?

Yes. Choose two players and the same computer, and you pass the keyboard (or the phone) between turns.

Which devices and browsers are supported?

Any modern browser on desktop or mobile: Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. Phones should be held sideways; the game says so if yours is upright.

Is this the original GORILLA.BAS?

No. It is a remake inspired by it: same idea — two gorillas, a skyline, exploding bananas, angle, power and wind — rebuilt from scratch for the browser. The original BASIC source is not part of this project.

Does the game show ads?

Advertising, where it appears, is kept to the editorial pages of the site. The game screen itself is not used to display ads. See the cookies page for detail.

What data do you collect?

No account is needed and no personal profile is built. The site uses analytics and, on content pages, advertising cookies; a nickname you choose is stored to sign a leaderboard entry. Details are in the privacy policy.

Does it work offline?

The game runs entirely in your browser once it has loaded, so a match against the CPU or a friend on the same keyboard works with a poor connection. Online leaderboards and joining a match need a connection.

In which languages can I play?

Six: English, Spanish, Italian, French, German and Russian. Pick one on the title screen; the game remembers it.

How is my progress saved?

Achievements, unlocked taunts and settings are kept in your browser's local storage, on your device. Clearing your browser data will remove them.

How do I report a bug or suggest something?

Use the contact page. Tell us what you did, what you expected and what happened; if it is a bug, the device and browser help a lot.
